Ceramic extraordinaire Bonnie Hislop will headline a cavalcade of colourful creativity in Moreton Bay as Craftival makes a much-anticipated return to Redcliffe Library this month.

A one-day celebration of all-things handmade, Craftival brings together local creatives, curious beginners and passionate makers for a day packed with inspiration, hands-on activities and community connection.

Festival goers can also experience live demonstrations, pop-up markets, workshops and ‘drop-in’ activities.

Bonnie Hislop is an award-winning artist known for her striking use of bright colours and satirical concepts through ceramics. She will be joined by local wire sculptor Russell Solomon, Ministry of Handmade creative director Julie Hillier, youth entrepreneur Chloe Alley and craft charity The Nest Community CEO Roz Holt, who will each delve into their creative journeys on the main stage.

Meanwhile, Sunday Jemmott, an emerging Brisbane/Magandjin-based artist, will lead hands-on activities exploring playful self-expression through jewellery making.

City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said Craftival continues to showcase the City’s thriving creative community.

“Craftival is a wonderful celebration of creativity and community, highlighting the incredible talent we have right here in Moreton Bay,” she said.

“It brings people together to learn new skills, share ideas and support local artisans, while also showing how our libraries are evolving into dynamic creative spaces.

“Council is proud to support events like Craftival that nurture local creatives, inspire innovation and strengthen community connections.”

Away from the main stage, locals will be spoiled for choice, with a pop-up marketplace featuring a curated selection of local creative businesses selling handmade art, homewares, jewellery, fashion and gifts.

The marketplace also includes a section featuring stallholders from GATHAA First Nations Markets and a Youth Market space facilitated by Youngpreneur Markets founder Chloe Alley.

A series of workshops covering metalsmithing, sculpture and sewing will also be featured, as well as a suite of ‘drop-in’ activities featuring beaded jewellery, creature drawing and face painting fun.

Craftival 2026 will be held on Saturday, 30 May at Redcliffe Library from 9am to 2pm. Entry is free.
