Summer Reading Club

Switch off your devices, win great prizes and rediscover your love of reading these holidays with City of Moreton Bay’s Summer Reading Club.

Mayor Peter Flannery said that due to its popularity, Council’s Summer Reading Club, is now open to all ages.

“Summer Reading Club is free to join and a fun way to encourage the whole family to spend more time with a good book during the school holidays,” he said.

“Running from 1 December 2023 until 31 January 2024, all you need to do is track every three hours of reading.

“All types of reading count, whether it’s a novel, comic book, recipe or even the back of a cereal box!

“Adults will also get bonus points when they read to their children as they can log that time as well.

“Adding to the fun, participants can travel around the City of Moreton Bay, with a special adventure map that takes you to our art galleries and museums, where you can also discover our fantastic summer exhibitions.

“There are lots book vouchers to win and a weekly prize draw, plus if you add in the name of your school, there’s a trophy for the school with the highest number of participants.

“We all know that it can be difficult to put down our phones and switch off from social media. Summer Reading Club gives everyone a reason to disconnect and enjoy all the benefits that reading brings.

“City of Moreton Bay libraries are constantly promoting the importance of recreational reading and our libraries have an extensive collection of books for all reading levels and interests, with friendly staff happy to provide expert reading suggestions.

“Last year the Summer Reading Club was a huge success with 4,940 children participating across Moreton Bay, reading a whopping 25,000 books. Let’s make this year even bigger and better!”
