Beach mat
A permanent beach mat (Mobi-Mat®) is installed at access point 12 off Bluey Piva Park. It sits between the dunes and does not extend to the water’s edge. This makes the beach easier to access and provides a viewing point on the beach, while protecting the mats from damage by high tides.
A continuous pathway connects the accessible parking within the car park off North Street to Access point 12. The beach mat is provided in partnership with Bribie Island Surf Lifesaving Club. For more information, read the product leaflet.
Beach wheelchairs
You can hire a beach wheelchair for free on weekends and public holidays between late September and early May. There are two types available.
Mobi-Chair
Kindly donated by CentaCare Moreton Bay, the Mobi-Chair® is a high-quality beach wheelchair suitable for both land and water. It provides a seamless transition from pathways to the beach and into the water. Once in the water, the arm rests allow the chair and its user to float. View the Mobi-Chair® safety information.
Sandcruiser®
The Sandcruiser® glides over sand, absorbing shocks for a smooth and comfortable ride along the beach. While the chair is not designed to float, it offers an excellent experience on the beach and in shallow waters. View the Sandcruiser® safety information.
Booking and collecting a beach wheelchair
Due to equipment upgrades, Council is unable to take any new beach wheelchair bookings until late January 2026. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
