The Moreton Bay Region’s coastline is home to many beautiful beaches which are enjoyed by locals and visitors throughout the year.
However, for many people who experience mobility limitations, such as wheelchair users, seniors and people with chronic health conditions, a day at the beach may be out of reach. Even families pushing prams or beach carts can experience trouble getting to and from the beach.
Council believes that everyone has the right to access and enjoy our beaches. Through the delivery of the Accessible Beaches initiative, Council is committed to giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy a day at the beach.
Council’s Accessible beaches initiative is currently being delivered at two patrolled beaches in the Moreton Bay Region: Woorim Beach on Bribie Island and Suttons Beach on the Redcliffe Peninsula.
