Notice of Making Community Standards for Private Land Local Law 2023 and Community Standards for Private Land Subordinate Local Law 2023
- Moreton Bay City Council (Council) has, by resolution dated 8 November 2023, made—
- Community Standards for Private Land Local Law 2023 (Local Law); and
- Community Standards for Private Land Subordinate Local Law 2023 (Subordinate Local Law).
- The Local Law repeals—
- Moreton Bay Regional Council Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011; and
- Moreton Bay Regional Council Subordinate Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011.
- The Local Law authorises the making of the Subordinate Local Law.
- The purpose and general effect of the Local Law and the Subordinate Local Law is to provide a regulatory framework for various matters that predominantly occur on private land in the local government area, including:
- the declaration of local pests and matters relating to declared local pests;
- overgrown land;
- the accumulation of objects, materials and organic matter;
- backyard fires; and
- local annoyances and hazards.
- A copy of the Local Law and Subordinate Local Law may be—
- inspected and purchased at Council’s public office; and
- viewed by the public on the website of the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning.
