Notice of Making Community Standards for Private Land Local Law 2023 and Community Standards for Private Land Subordinate Local Law 2023

1. Moreton Bay City Council (Council) has, by resolution dated 8 November 2023, made—
   1. Community Standards for Private Land Local Law 2023 (Local Law); and
   2. Community Standards for Private Land Subordinate Local Law 2023 (Subordinate Local Law).
2. The Local Law repeals—
   1. Moreton Bay Regional Council Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011; and
   2. Moreton Bay Regional Council Subordinate Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011.
3. The Local Law authorises the making of the Subordinate Local Law.
4. The purpose and general effect of the Local Law and the Subordinate Local Law is to provide a regulatory framework for various matters that predominantly occur on private land in the local government area, including:
   1. the declaration of local pests and matters relating to declared local pests;
   2. overgrown land;
   3. the accumulation of objects, materials and organic matter;
   4. backyard fires; and
   5. local annoyances and hazards.
5. A copy of the Local Law and Subordinate Local Law may be—
   1. inspected and purchased at Council’s public office; and
   2. viewed by the public on the website of the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning.
