Our city has a range of community groups and organisations dedicated to providing exciting sport and recreation opportunities for people living with disability.

These activities help everyone get involved, make friends, and enjoy a healthy and active life. Staying active is good for both your body and mind. It can also help you feel more connected to your community. Activities include wheelchair basketball, gardening, horse riding, gymnastics, outdoor adventures and many more!

Albany Creek Gymnastics Club

This club has inclusive general classes for everyone. They also offer classes for children and adults with disability or those who need extra help. You can find them at the South Pine Sports Complex.

Beachmere Community Garden

The Beachmere Community Garden is a welcoming, accessible space for the whole community. It features a sensory garden and educates visitors on growing healthy, ethical food at home, especially in urban areas.

Blind Bats Inc.

Blind Bats provides inclusive sporting activities for people who: 

  • are blind or have low vision 
  • are deaf or have hearing loss 
  • have Down syndrome 
  • are neurodiverse. 

They offer beep sports such as cricket, hockey, softball, and touch football. All ages and abilities are welcome to join in.

Healthy and Active Moreton

Council's Healthy and Active Moreton program offers many free and low-cost activities. These include sport, recreation, fitness and wellness classes and workshops for all ages and abilities. Some inclusive activities are wheelchair basketball, wheelchair dancing and chair yoga classes.

Moreton Bay Boccia - Sporting Wheelies

Sporting Wheelies is a leading provider of opportunities for people with disability wanting to get involved in sport and recreation activities. Boccia is a bowling game that uses strategy and precision. It's suitable for all skill levels, including those with a physical disability.

Riding for the Disabled - Samford and Redcliffe

Riding for the Disabled provides a range of safe and therapeutic activities for people with disability. These include horse riding, dressage, carriage driving and equestrian competitions.

Samford Valley Target Archers

This archery club has courses for people of all abilities. They have a para-classifier, coaches and international-level judges with experience working with para-archers. From beginners through to international-level competitors, all are welcome. The club's policy is for inclusion and integration.

Special Olympics Moreton North

Special Olympics provides a safe and supportive space for people with intellectual disabilities or who are neurodiverse. 

Activities include:

  • athletics
  • basketball
  • golf
  • soccer
  • swimming
  • table tennis.  

People of all ages and abilities are welcome to come and have fun.

Suncoast Spinners - Wheelchair Basketball

Suncoast Spinners is a social club catering to people of all abilities. Wheelchair basketball is a great team sport. It can help build strength and coordination while learning new skills and making friends along the way. You can join as a player, coach or official.

Variety Queensland

Variety Queensland run programs for children with disabilities. Their programs and activities enable children to experience recreation, creativity and camaraderie. They also offer sport and recreation grants and scholarships for children with disability.
