City of Moreton Bay has released its Annual Report for 2024 - 2025, showcasing a year of record investment in infrastructure, a strong commitment to sustainability, and significant progress in building a vibrant, inclusive and resilient city.

The Annual Report provides an overview of what Council has delivered for its communities in the last financial year. It highlights progress towards delivering our City Vision, Corporate Plan, and Operational Plan through projects, initiatives and services. It also provides details of Council’s financial performance along with governance and statutory information.

City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery highlighted 2024-25 as a year of major milestones, one that continued to deliver for residents, businesses and the growing city.

"It’s been an incredible first year for this new Council, achieving so much together with our community at the heart of every decision we make,” Mayor Flannery said.

“With 240 people moving to City of Moreton Bay each week, we remain focused on providing the infrastructure, services and support our communities need now, while planning responsibly for the future.

“Council delivered significant investment in infrastructure, including the start of the transformative Youngs Crossing Road upgrade, one of the most significant road projects Council has ever undertaken.

“Our first Advocacy Plan has helped secure almost $800 million in additional funding between 2021–24 and driven key legislative changes.

“The more funding we lock in, the more critical infrastructure we can deliver without adding pressure to our rate payers.

“Sustainability continues to be a focus, with our new Garden Organics (GO) kerbside collection diverting 20,000 tonnes of waste from landfill in just six months.

“This is an important step toward our goals of net zero emissions for Council operations by 2039 and a 70% recycling rate by 2040.

“At Moreton Bay Central, the Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre, confirmed as a Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games venue, is progressing well and will provide lasting benefits for sport, entertainment and community events.

“Our commitment to accessibility saw the adoption of Australia’s first Changing Places Network Plan and the installation of Queensland’s first public We-Go-Swing.

“From new parks like the CREEC Adventure Park, to thousands of free and low-cost sport and recreation activities, community events, upgraded facilities and targeted grants, we are building a city that is vibrant, inclusive and healthy.

This year also brought the challenge of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. This prompted rapid recovery responses across emergency services, infrastructure repair, and community support, and despite the disruption, our teams maintained critical services and our City’s resilience shone through.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together over the past financial year, and I encourage our community to explore the Annual Report to see the scope of work delivered right across City of Moreton Bay.”

Highlights from 2024-25 include:

  • $6 million in support to eligible homeowners through its once-off $50 financial relief rates concession, helping to ease the rates burden
