Not only does Moreton Bay boast the best lifestyle in SEQ, we also get an additional long weekend!

Councillors today voted for the Royal National Show Holiday to be observed on Monday 12 August 2024, rather than on Wednesday 14 August with Brisbane.

Mayor Peter Flannery said Moreton Bay residents deserved an extra long weekend and encouraged locals to plan a holiday at home.

“This continues a long local tradition and, in my personal opinion, is much better than a mid-week break,” Mayor Flannery said.

“This is the perfect opportunity for families to have a holiday at home and discover more of your Moreton Bay backyard.

“Get onto the Visit Moreton Bay Region website now for ideas on where you can stay and play in Moreton Bay.

“I hope the People’s Long Weekend will encourage locals and visitors to buy local, shop local and holiday locally in Moreton Bay Region.”

To coincide with the 2024 Show Holiday Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT) and Council will again host the annual Caboolture Family Fun Day with free rides, activities and stage shows at Centenary Lakes.

Cr Adam Hain (Div 3) said it was the affordable alternative to the Ekka.

“This year’s Caboolture Family Fun Day will be the hottest ticket in town because the entertainment is free, the rides are cheap, and the day itself is always awesome in the winter sunshine,” Cr Hain said.

“As living costs continue to rise, it’s more important than ever for us to be providing low cost entertainment to keep life affordable for families.

“This is probably the best day out you can have without breaking the bank.

“So bring the kids down to enjoy the thrills and spills of the rides while you explore the market stalls and get some R&R.”
