  • Construction works to pave the way for Caboolture River Road upgrade
  • Businesses and nearby major roads will remain open during works
  • Morayfield Road to west of Crome Court will become four lanes to better manage growth

Two weeks of construction works will get under way at the corner of Morayfield Road and William Berry Drive in early February, in preparation for much-anticipated improvements to Caboolture River Road.

City of Moreton Bay is upgrading Caboolture River Road at Morayfield, between Morayfield Road and Grant Road to cater to growing and future travel demands.  Road construction work is expected to start late in 2026 and completed in 2028.

The project includes funding from the Queensland Government and City of Moreton Bay and forms part of the Growth Area Compact, a commitment under the SEQ City Deal. The Queensland Government is providing $71 million towards the project, with City of Moreton Bay contributing $10 million.

To accommodate the planned traffic lane improvements at the corner of Morayfield Road and William Berry Drive, contractor Doval Constructions will be removing the vacant building at 193 Morayfield Road.

Site activities will include:

  • Fencing/screening of the construction zone and site preparation
  • Building demolition
  • Removal of the existing slab
  • Loading and haulage of materials
  • Installation of new pavement.

Division 3 Councillor Adam Hain said Morayfield Road, William Berry Drive and Caboolture River Road were expected to remain open to traffic during these works.

“Customer, delivery and service vehicle access to surrounding businesses at 193 Morayfield Road, 197-199 Morayfield Road and 10-14 William Berry Drive will remain available via William Berry Drive and Morayfield Road,” Cr Hain said.

“Variable message signs will be located onsite to highlight that these businesses are open.

“Construction equipment will operate and be stored within a fenced construction zone surrounding the building. All areas outside the designated zone will continue to be available for customer parking.”

Site preparation and demolition activities will occur at night, between 7pm to 5am, in the interest of community and crew safety, and to reduce inconvenience to road users.

During these night works, William Berry Drive will operate with one westward lane and continue to remain open to traffic in both directions. Short-term delays may be experienced and Council appreciates the community’s understanding while these necessary activities are completed.

Road users and pedestrians are requested to observe the instructions of work crews and all signage.

Cr Hain said the activity followed other preparations for this crucial road project, including vegetation works, and construction of the improved Morayfield State School car park, scheduled for completion in mid-February.

“Once the new car park is up and running for the school community, final footpath and garden works will immediately follow at the site.

“I thank the community and road users for their understanding and cooperation as this much-needed infrastructure solution is delivered to the people of Morayfield, for the future of our City.”

The 1.2 kilometre upgrade to Caboolture River Road includes:

  • Widening Caboolture River Road between Grant Road and Morayfield Road to provide two traffic lanes in each direction (four lanes in total) with a central median.
  • Installing additional traffic turning lanes at key intersections.
  • Installing new traffic lights at the intersection of Amy and Kenneth Streets.
  • Upgrading the existing traffic lights at Grant Road and Morayfield Road.
  • Changing access at Ben Street and Lorebury Drive to left in/left out only.
  • Installing new cycling and pedestrian paths on both sides of the road.
