Moreton Bay support locations

In response to a disaster, support locations can be opened to help the community stay safe.

A support location may open for various reasons and remain open for varying lengths of time. When a location is active, you can find them in the list below or on the Disaster Dashboard.

Support locations used during a disaster include:

  • Place of refuge: A facility identified or set aside to provide a brief respite from disaster effects and does not require the provision of accommodation.
  • Evacuation centre: A facility set aside to provide short-stay emergency accommodation for displaced (evacuated) residents.
  • Information hub: A facility identified to act as a hub for community information about a disaster. They do not provide accommodation.
  • Recovery hub: A facility identified to act as a hub for community information and for providing multidisciplinary services to support a community though recovery after a disaster. They do not provide accommodation.
