Keeping Moreton Bay moving

Imagine a city where public or active transport is your preferred mode of getting around. From grabbing a morning coffee to going to work or meeting up with friends, it would free up our roads, save us money and be better for the environment.

Transport and infrastructure are the building blocks that support our way of life. We need roads, transport, healthcare, and schools that keep pace with population growth. We also need utilities, community services, and digital connectivity to support our growing communities. When they don’t keep pace with population growth, we grind to a halt.

As Moreton Bay grows, we need to plan to keep our city moving:

  • Efficient and reliable transport and infrastructure support our way of life.
  • We need roads and transport that keep pace with growth. Services like healthcare and schools, utilities, community services, and digital connectivity must keep up as well.
  • There are more people moving across our City every week.
  • Our role is to plan the infrastructure we need. We also strongly advocate for the Queensland and Australian Governments to deliver it.

Planning for infrastructure

Our role is to plan for the infrastructure we need while we strongly advocate for the Queensland and Australian Governments to deliver it.

More residents will mean more people moving across our city every day. We need roads and transport options that will ease congestion and provide better connectivity for people travelling across our City.

These options include:

  • Bruce Highway Western alternative
  • frequent and efficient public transport
  • rapid transport options
  • networks for active and waterway travel.

Developers also have a role to play in providing essential infrastructure and amenities when building new communities in our City. This is a key condition of securing council approval. It saves ratepayers money in the long run and delivers what we need to create vibrant and connected neighbourhoods.

Our Local Government Infrastructure Plan identifies and prioritises the trunk infrastructure needed to support current and future urban development. We consult with the community when preparing any future amendments.

Council can’t deliver this type of infrastructure on our own. We need the Queensland and Australian Governments and developers to play their part.
