Meet Milly!
Milly is a 9-metre replica of Matilda, the beloved mascot of the 1982 Brisbane Commonwealth Games. Standing proudly at The Mill Water Park and Play Space at Moreton Bay Central, Milly looks over the future hub of sport in City of Moreton Bay.
Seen by millions during the Games' Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Matilda became one of Queensland's most recognisable sporting icons. Today, her legacy lives on in City of Moreton Bay, where she has been affectionately named "Milly".

A piece of Queensland history
The original Matilda stood more than 13 metres tall. Capturing the imagination of audiences, Matilda was a staple of the 1982 Brisbane Commonwealth Games.
Known for her giant wink and moving features with her pouch acting as a door for over 20 children in kangaroo suits during the opening ceremony. Matilda is a symbol of Queensland's warm and playful spirit.
More than 40 years later, Milly lives on and helps keep that history alive. She now inspires a new generation to celebrate sport, community and local pride.
Looking towards Brisbane 2032
Milly now stands beside the future Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre at Moreton Central. This sports centre will feature as a key venue for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Milly represents the connection between our sporting past and the exciting future ahead.
A gift to the community
Milly arrived in City of Moreton Bay thanks to the generosity of the O'Keeffe Family. The O'Keeffe Family kindly donated Milly to our community in 2024.
The 9-metre fibreglass replica was commissioned by the family and expertly crafted by local fabricators. Natureworks helped preserve this important piece of Queensland's cultural and sporting history.
Their gift ensures visitors can continue enjoying this iconic Australian landmark for generations.
