Child safety and wellbeing
Children should always feel safe and cared for, and everyone has a role in protecting them.
City of Moreton Bay is committed to creating safe, inclusive and welcoming environments for children and young people who participate in our programs, use our facilities, or engage with our services.
We take child safety concerns seriously and work to prevent harm, promote wellbeing, and ensure children and young people are heard and valued.
We encourage anyone with a child safety concern related to a Council service, worker, volunteer or contractor to report it so appropriate action can be taken.
How we support child safety
City of Moreton Bay ensures young people are safe by:
- listening to children and taking their concerns seriously
- creating safe spaces in our programs and facilities
- training staff to support and protect children
- acting quickly if there are concerns about safety.
Report a child safety concern
If you have child safety concerns about a Council service or the way a Council worker (including a volunteer or contractor) has treated a child, you can:
All complaints will be listened to, treated seriously and responded to quickly.
Help for young people
If you feel unsafe or worried, it’s ok to ask for help. There are people who will listen and support you.
- Call 000 if you are in immediate danger.
- Call Kids Help Line on 1800 55 1800 to talk to someone any time.
- Talk to a trusted adult like a teacher or parent.
Concerned about a child or young person’s safety
If a child is in immediate danger call 000.
If you have a reason to suspect a child is experiencing harm, is at risk of experiencing harm or being neglected, contact Child Safety.
