National Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements. This week is a chance to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. National Reconciliation Week is held from 27 May to 3 June every year. These dates commemorate the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.
National Reconciliation Week follows National Sorry Day. Falling on 25 May, National Sorry Day acknowledges the Stolen Generations and the tabling of the 1997 Bringing Them Home report. The Stolen Generations were Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families between the mid-1800s and 1980s.
City of Moreton Bay respectfully acknowledges the Kabi Kabi, Jinibara and Turrbal Traditional Custodians of the lands across the region, and pays our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
All In for National Reconciliation Week 2026
The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is "All In". This year's theme is a call for all Australians to commit to reconciliation every single day.
All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that we all must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.
The theme reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity. It is not the responsibility of First Nations people alone, who have carried the weight for far too long.
Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us.
The #NRW2026 campaign was created in collaboration with Carbon Creative. Carbon Creative are a First Nations-owned and operated marketing and creative agency.
The artwork for this campaign is by renowned Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung artist Otis Hope Carey. Applying his distinctive style, Otis has created a colourful and optimistic visual that captures a shared commitment to change. His piece represents people from all walks of life being ‘all in’ to make change.
Council proudly supports activities that celebrate National Reconciliation Week, and First Nations cultures.
