The Rotary Club of Bribie Island has been awarded $10,000 per annum over the next three years through a Council grant to support the delivery of the Bribie Island New Year’s Eve event.
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said the funding will ensure the popular New Year celebrations on Bribie Island go off with a bang.
“This family-friendly celebration has become an annual favourite for the northern part of our City, drawing thousands of attendees each year,” Mayor Flannery said.
“Council has proudly supported the Bribie Island New Year’s Eve event for several years, recognising its significance in fostering community spirit and providing inclusive entertainment for residents and visitors alike.
“This is a fantastic outcome for both the local community and the Rotary Club, with the event offering a vibrant mix of live music, food stalls, markets, and a spectacular fireworks display that brings people together to celebrate the New Year.”
Division 1 Councillor Brooke Savige said she’s looking forward to seeing this celebration return.
“This funding recognises the incredible work of our local Rotary Club and the importance of community-led events that bring people together to celebrate and connect,” Councillor Savige said.
“The Rotary Club of Bribie Island Inc is a passionate group of 20 volunteers, all working together to deliver meaningful contributions to the local community.”
Lulu Drew, Director of Events from the Rotary Club of Bribie Island Inc thanked Council for the funding.
“As a Rotary Club, we take action to support our community through service, fundraising and outreach, and the grant from Council allows us to deliver a fun, safe and family friendly event the whole family can enjoy,” Lulu said.
“Our New Years Eve celebration brings together people of all ages and is something the locals and visitors look forward to each year.”
In addition to the annual funding, Council will apply a 3% increase to the multi-year grant to acknowledge the rising operational costs of community organisations.
