This is a manual collection service where the waste collection driver will walk onto your property to retrieve, empty, and return your bins. The collection vehicle will not enter your property.

Who can apply

To be eligible for the infirmed collection service, the following conditions must be met:

  • You must have significant mobility issues that prevent you from moving your bins.
  • No other able-bodied person lives at the property.
  • The bin storage location must be within 60 metres of the kerbside collection point.
  • The driver must be able to see the collection vehicle from the bin storage location.
  • There must be no obstacles or hazards that prevent safe access to your bins, such as:
    • steep driveways or inclines
    • unrestrained dogs
    • locked gates or fences
    • any other access issue, subject to the waste contractor’s risk assessment

How the service works

  • The first collection vehicle driver will bring both bins to the roadside. Your waste bin and either your recycling or organic bin, depending on the week. The driver will empty the bin they are there to service.
  • The second collection vehicle driver will empty the remaining applicable bin and return both bins to the property to their original location.
