Notice of Making Community Standards for Public Land and Roads Local Law 2023 and Community Standards for Public Land and Roads Subordinate Local Law 2023
- Moreton Bay City Council (Council) has, by resolution dated 8 November 2023, made—
- Community Standards for Public Land and Roads Local Law 2023 (Local Law); and
- Community Standards for Public Land and Roads Subordinate Local Law 2023 (Subordinate Local Law).
- The Local Law repeals—
- Moreton Bay Regional Council Local Law No. 4 (Local Government Controlled Areas and Roads) 2011; and
- Moreton Bay Regional Council Subordinate Law No. 4 (Local Government Controlled Areas and Roads) 2011.
- The Local Law authorises the making of the Subordinate Local Law.
- The purpose and general effect of the Local Law and the Subordinate Local Law is to provide a regulatory framework for various activities on public land and roads in the local government area, including:
- restricting some activities on public land and roads;
- driving vehicles on public land;
- the management and use of shopping trolleys;
- the maintenance and repair of driveway crossovers and awnings overhanging public land and roads;
- the maintenance of road verges; and
- guidelines for verge gardens.
- A copy of the Local Law and Subordinate Local Law may be—
- inspected and purchased at Council’s public office; and
- viewed by the public on the website of the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning.
