Sandbag stations opening in City of Moreton Bay
Published 12 February 2026
With severe weather forecast for this weekend, sandbag stations are opening across City of Moreton Bay. Stations are now open at Margate, Bribie Island, Petrie, Deception Bay, Narangba, Woodford, Elimbah, Beachmere, Toorbul and Caboolture and up to date details on sandbag stations can be found on City of Moreton Bay’s Disaster Dashboard
The Dashboard also provides the latest road closures and weather warnings.
Places of Refuge are currently open at Burpengary Library, Deception Bay Library, Redcliffe Library, Albany Creek Library, Bribie Island Library, Arana Hills Library, Woodford Library, Strathpine Library, Caboolture Hub Library and North Lakes Library.
City of Moreton Bay encourages people to register for MoretonAlert, a free SMS, email and voice alert system that provides warnings relevant to your local address to help you prepare for severe weather events.
Sandbags will not stop flood waters entirely. Suitable placement of correctly filled bags may reduce the amount of water that enters your property.
The State Emergency Service (SES) may be able to provide assistance to residents physically unable to get their own sandbags due to illness, age or other incapacity. If assistance is required, contact the SES on 132 500.
If attending a Council sandbag location, bring your own shovel as you will be required to fill your own sandbags.
Sandbag stations will remain open until it is safe to do so.
