Vision For Emerging Growth Front Becomes Clearer

- The State Government has extended the Morayfield South Temporary Local Planning Instrument (TLPI) for 12 months until 17 September 2026.
- The TLPI gives residents clarity over intended land uses and the location of future infrastructure.
- Sets a clear direction for future development of the Morayfield South growth area.
City of Moreton Bay has provided continuing clarity over land use and future infrastructure, for its second largest growth front, with the remaking of the Morayfield South Temporary Local Planning Instrument (TLPI).
The TLPI extension commencing on 17 September 2025 for the duration of 12 months, sees Council continue work on the Major Planning Scheme Amendment No.4 – Morayfield South Emerging Community Area and Designated Bushfire Prone Areas.
The State Government approved TLPI is a remake of the existing Temporary Local Planning Instrument No.01 of 2023 Morayfield South Emerging Community Area, that was set to expire on 16 September 2025.
Mayor Peter Flannery said the Morayfield South Emerging Community Area is a core piece of City of Moreton Bay’s growth puzzle.
“It will help tackle the housing crisis locally and provide much needed homes,” Mayor Flannery said.
“Our second largest growth front, we estimate it will provide 9,800 new homes for 26,000 people over the coming years.
“Under increasing development pressure, the remaking of this TLPI gives the community clarity over intended land uses and locations of future infrastructure within the Morayfield South Emerging Community Area.
Councillor Tony Latter (Div 12) said the TLPI had been remade to ensure that the structure plan remains in place, and residents and developers could continue to operate under the existing planning provisions, until the related planning scheme amendment is finalised
“Council is also nearing completion of Major Planning Scheme Amendment No. 4 - Morayfield South Emerging Community Area and Designated Bushfire Prone Areas - that will shortly be released for community consultation,” Cr Latter said.
The remake reflects the existing TLPI 2023, except for one Ministerial imposed condition to specifically identify and protect four future State school sites in Morayfield South within the Interim Structure Plan.
