Create your own plant-animal

Next date: Saturday, 18 April 2026 | 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM

Masks created by David Spooner to showcase the art style. One is a variation of a shark, the other is a combination involving a cassowary and a flower.

Join artist David Spooner for a fun, hands-on community art workshop where you can let your imagination and creativity run wild. You can experiment with design to create a unique mythical plant-animal to take home.

This free workshop will take place at Pridefest. It’s the perfect creative activity for everyone in City of Moreton Bay.

About the workshop

David Spooner’s art explores both plants and animals and how they transform themselves through texture, pattern, and design. In this unique session, children and adults alike are invited to explore these concepts through playful creativity bound to excite artists of all ages.

Participants within the workshop will create their own mythical plant-animal by:

  • using your own initials to invent a name
  • picking a cardboard shape to customise with symbols, patterns and camouflage
  • decorating this new creature using paint pens and stickers to give it character and personality.

This free event is the best way to explore your creativity during Pridefest. Join us and bring your ideas to life!
