Published 05 December 2025
City of Moreton Bay has officially broken ground on the Samford Parklands Village Green Park Upgrade, marking the start of construction for this vibrant new community space.
Incorporating community feedback and best-practice design principles, the upgrade will deliver a vibrant hub for events, recreation, and social connection. With open lawns for gatherings, shaded picnic shelters, a play space for children, and accessible walking paths with stunning valley views, the Samford Parklands Village Green Park will encourage active lifestyles and strengthen community ties for generations to come.
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said the sod-turn was an exciting milestone for Samford and the wider community.
“This is more than just a park upgrade. It’s about creating a space where people can come together, celebrate, and enjoy the incredible lifestyle our City offers,” Mayor Flannery said.
“The Village Green will feature open lawns for gatherings and events, BBQ and picnic facilities, play equipment, and landscaped gardens with shade trees. It will be the beating heart of Samford for generations to come.”
Ali France, Member for Dickson, said the Albanese Government was proud to support projects that strengthen community connections.
“Samford is stunning, and the Samford Parklands Village Green Park Upgrade will make it an even better place to bring your family to enjoy the outdoors,” Ms France said.
“The Albanese Labor Government is investing $2.2 million through our Thriving Suburbs Program to make Samford Parklands a space for everyone to appreciate.”
Councillor Ellie Smith (Div 11) said the project reflects the community’s vision for a welcoming and inclusive space.
“Samford Parklands is already a much-loved destination, and this new Village Green will make it even better,” Cr Smith said.
"It’s designed for everyone from families, visitors, and locals to relax, play, and connect within the absolutely stunning backdrop of Samford.”
The $4.4 million project is jointly funded by City of Moreton Bay and the Australian Government’s Thriving Suburbs Program, with construction expected to be completed by late 2026.
