- The busy holiday period is a reminder for everyone to share the streets
With the holiday season around the corner, that means busy streets and packed carparks across City of Moreton Bay, and Council is reminding everyone to park responsibly to keep things moving.
Mayor Peter Flannery said it’s about making sure everyone has a fair go when it comes to finding a park during one of the busiest times of the year.
“Please be mindful of time limits and signs when parking these holidays,” Mayor Flannery said.
“Sticking to the rules means more spaces free up for others - whether you’re popping into the shops, heading to an appointment or catching up with family and friends.
"We're fortunate to live in a city with access to timed parking – meaning everyone gets a chance to find a spot while respecting the limits.
“Let's all do the right thing and ensure you are following the parking rules in local areas and help keep traffic flowing to make the festive season safer and less stressful for everyone.”
Cameron Whinnett, President of the Redcliffe Peninsula Chamber of Commerce said keeping car parks available makes a difference for local businesses and the community.
“Every new customer who walks through the door is an opportunity to grow our local businesses and everyone can help make that possible by keeping spaces available and accessible,” Mr Whinnett said.
Nick Steiner, President of the Caboolture Chamber of Commerce said it’s important to always keep to the time limits.
“If everyone sticks to the rules and time limits it supports turnover, which means more people through the doors of local businesses and support our local economy, especially in busy centres at this time of year.”
