The Inspector-General of Emergency Management (IGEM) will be holding a community forum in Deception Bay at 5.30pm on July 5 for the South East Queensland (SEQ) Rainfall and Flooding event that occurred between 22 February and 7 March 2022.

Community members are invited to attend and participate in these forums as part of the IGEM review, it follows a similar event in Caboolture.

The IGEM, Alistair Dawson APM, said community forums would be held in parts of South East Queensland that were impacted by this rainfall and flooding event.

“These forums are an important opportunity for community members to share their experiences in the lead up to, and in response to the event.

The forums provide an opportunity for the community to contribute suggestions for any improvements and equally to share what worked well,” Mr Dawson said.

Community forums will be undertaken in line with the review’s terms of reference which are available for download via: https://www.igem.qld.gov.au/sites/default/files/2022-03/Terms%20of%20Reference.pdf

“We are keen to hear what the community has to say, and I encourage people to attend these public forums,” Mr Dawson said.

Community members can find out more information about each of the community forums and register to attend via the IGEM website: https://www.igem.qld.gov.au/south-eastqueensland-rainfall-and-flooding-event-february-march-2022-review
