City of Moreton Bay continues to support the ANZAC Day Services provided by the Bray Park-Strathpine Returned and Services League (RSLs) of Australia Sub-Branch through both financial and in-kind support.

Council has approved a grant for the Sub-Branch to receive $4000 per annum across three years to support costs associated with their ANZAC Day memorial events.

They will also receive in-kind support from Council including assistance with obtaining relevant permits and approvals, event promotion and beautification activities for the service locations.

Acting Mayor Jodie Shipway said ANZAC Day services are significant civic events and of great importance to the City.

“ANZAC Day is an important national occasion in our City and across Australia, commemorating the significant contributions and sacrifices of past and present, service men and women, and their families,” Acting Mayor Shipway said.

“Receiving continued funding as part of Council’s grant program will enable the Bray Park-Strathpine RSL Sub-Branch to continue to deliver ANZAC Day services to the community with Council’s support.

“It's one of the most meaningful ways Council can help community groups and organisations continue to deliver important events like ANZAC Day services in our city.”

Councillor Jim Moloney (Division 8) said ANZAC Day continues to be a meaningful day of remembrance for our community.

“Council is proud to support the local RSL so that local families can continue to come together, reflect and ensure the ANZAC spirit lives on in our community,” Cr Moloney said.

Daniel Grono, President of Bray Park-Strathpine RSL Sub-Branch, said Council’s support ensures the Sub-Branch can continue to hold ANZAC Day ceremonies for years to come.

“Each year we see thousands of community members turn out to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country,” Daniel said.

“Accessing grant funding from Council allows us to keep the ANZAC spirit, and the memories of the men, women and animals who served, alive for generations to come.”

In addition to the annual funding, Council will apply a 3% increase to the multi-year grant to acknowledge the rising operational costs of community organisations.
