New parks and playgrounds are on the horizon for City of Moreton Bay.

Over $1.9 million has been invested to build four new local parks and playgrounds in Deception Bay, Griffin and Morayfield.

Mayor Peter Flannery said the new parks will be up and running before the end of the year, creating more quality open spaces for the local community.

“Our City is experiencing significant growth, so we are committed to delivering more parks and open spaces that support healthy, active lifestyles and create places for families to spend quality time together.

“Every new park is an investment in our City’s liveability and another step towards meeting the needs of our current residents as well as supporting future growth.

“We want to make it easier for locals to access great parks and playgrounds close to home, wherever they live in Moreton Bay.”

Councillor Sandra Ruck (Division 5) said the new parks are essential infrastructure for the local community.

“I’m excited to see this fantastic new park being delivered in the popular local area of Billabong Place in Deception Bay.

“It will provide plenty of options for fun and play, relaxation, exercise, recreation, and meeting spaces.”

Councillor Mark Booth (Div 2) said the new park at Greenshank Court, Deception Bay will provide a welcome boost for local families.

“This park will be a fantastic addition to the area, offering modern play equipment, picnic spaces, and plenty of shade.

“Our parks and green spaces are where families make memories, friends come together, and people of all ages enjoy the outdoors.”

Councillor Yvonne Barlow (Division 7) said the new park at Riverview Parkway, Griffin, will benefit local families and complement the beautiful natural setting of the North Pine River.

“Covering almost a hectare, this park will offer something for everyone, from open green space and picnic spots to a shaded playground with equipment for toddlers through to school-aged kids, including some all-abilities features.

“It will create a welcoming, inclusive space where locals can come together and make the most of this beautiful part of Griffin.”

Councillor Tony Latter said the new playground set for Crowe Road in Morayfield will be a hit with the locals.

“Our parks reflect the character and identity of our neighbourhoods, and I’m proud to be delivering new spaces that encourage outdoor activity and support the health and wellbeing of our growing community.

“This new playground will help meet the needs of many local families in an area by offering play equipment to suit young children through to school age.”
