Mark your calendar! Moreton Bay Regional Council's holiday program is returning from 18 June - 11 July with a range of returning favourites and new activities for children and young people aged 3 - 17 years.

All of the new activities on offer through the Active Holidays program are designed to kick kids off the couch and get into nature.

From guided mindfulness walks through Samford Valley to learning the ins and outs of camping like pitching a tent and building camp gadgets.

With the school holiday program usually booking out in a flash, Mayor Peter Flannery is encouraging parents and care givers to get in quick to secure a spot.

“This program is super popular with families because of its diversity, there is something for everyone across Council’s libraries, galleries, museums, environmental centres and Active Holidays program,” Mayor Flannery said.

“It’s also affordable with all activities free or low cost!

“We’ve brought back some favourites from previous holiday programs to keep kids moving this winter such as archery lessons in Joyner, fishing for beginners in Sandstone Point, and a girls skateboarding clinic at the Narangba Skate Park.

“Across Council’s six galleries and museums there are some cool exhibitions and workshops including Brain Child which celebrates the world of inventions at the Redcliffe Museum to animation workshops at the Pine Rivers Art Gallery.

“There’s even more options at the 10 libraries across Moreton Bay Region including street science shows, special effects make up classes and a Larrikin Puppet Show for little ones.

“The Readers and Writers Festival is also running during this time with creative workshops, performances, storytelling corners and author readings to celebrate literacy within our community.”

Check out the range of adventure, sport, recreation and educational activities and start planning your family’s winter school holiday schedule.

Bookings open 11am, Thursday 17 June 2021.
