Make the most of Moreton Bay’s beautiful natural assets this year by signing up to one of many new nature walks and outdoor recreation activities as part of Council’s huge Healthy & Active Moreton program.

Mayor Peter Flannery said there’s an activity for everyone to start the year off with around 100 free and low cost activities on offer each week, from group fitness classes, yoga and meditation to surfing, kayaking and everything in between.

“The Healthy & Active Moreton program has gotten so large over the years that we’re running out of new activities to introduce - we even have wing foiling lessons and underwater hockey,” he said.

“So to keep up with growing popularity of our nature and trail walks, we’ve extended them to even more locations across our stunning hinterland, including Cedar Creek, Dawson Creek Trail, Greene Falls, Somerset Trail.

“Reconnect with nature by taking a guided tour through the beautiful Samford Valley area or take the kids for a family-friendly trek to spot pademelons, rare birds and other wildlife at Mount Glorious.

“If you’d prefer action then there’s also tennis, skateboarding, soccer, wind surfing, gymnastics, trampolining, dance and even giant swing activities to whet your appetite.

“We try to make sure there’s an activity for every age group too which is why we have exercise classes, pickleball, tai chi, chair yoga and even parkour targeted at older adults.

“Our inclusive wheelchair dance and basketball programs are very popular and available to everyone over the age of five to come and try.

“We love our lifestyle in Moreton Bay and getting out and about in our naturally beautiful environment is a big part of that.

“So visit Council’s website to check out what activities we have for you and make sure to book yourself a spot in the next class or workshop to get your fix of Moreton Bay.”

The Healthy Active & Moreton program launches on Monday, 23 January 2023.  Visit mbrc.link/healthy-active to find an activity for you.
