More than 20,000 foodies flocked to Moreton Bay over the weekend to celebrate the Moreton Bay Food + Wine Festival, and it’s just the start of a month-long culinary celebration.

Chefs including Manu Fieldel, Miguel Maestre, Adriano Zumbo, Alastair McLeod, Luke Camilleri and more performed across two stages over three days (August 19-21) sharing recipes and cooking tips as they prepared dishes using a selection of local produce.

Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Peter Flannery says the weekend’s event was the Cinderella story Moreton Bay deserved, and the ‘Taste of Moreton Bay Feastival’ rocking around the region through to September 25.

“After last year’s horror cancellation, the weather gods definitely smiled on us to give our events and hospitality industry some well-deserved perfection,” Mayor Flannery says.

“I don’t think anyone at this event will forget those incredible sunsets. Life simply doesn’t get any better than enjoying the best local produce, cooked by amazing chefs, along our spectacular foreshore.

“I can’t describe the pride I felt driving across Ted Smout bridge, looking across the sparkling waters of our bay to see the peninsula bursting to life.

“Over the coming weeks there’ll be 40-plus events, dining experiences, masterclasses, tours and much more to tantalise your tastebuds - so jump online now to book your tickets and be part of the fun.

“We all deserve a party!”

Moreton Bay Food +Wine Festival was delivered by Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT), with the support of key strategic partner, Moreton Bay Regional Council.

MBRIT CEO Shane Newcombe says it was a massive three days, with perfect weather, fine food, quality entertainment, tasty drinks and relaxed bayside atmosphere enjoyed by big crowds.

“There were huge crowds at the cooking demonstrations, with our big line-up of celebrity chefs cooking up a storm using local produce,” Mr Newcombe says.

“The event was as much about our region’s local producers as it was about enjoying the music, atmosphere, drinks, food and fireworks. I hope those who attended, left with a greater appreciation of the bounty our region has to offer.

“Thanks to my amazing team for all their hard work in making this year’s festival such a success.”
