City of Moreton Bay is empowering locals to roll up their sleeves and get their green thumbs out on Sunday 27 July 2025 to celebrate National Tree Day.
Council has its sights set high, aiming to plant 4,000 native trees, shrubs, and vines with the support of the local community. In previous years, over 150 volunteers have jumped on board to help, and Council is encouraging even more people to come along this year.
Mayor Peter Flannery said National Tree Day is a great way for people to do something positive for their environment, while learning more about the natural spaces around them.
“Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or it's your first time, everyone is welcome to plant some native trees with us this National Tree Day. Come prepared for the outdoors in your sun-safe kit with closed-in shoes and we’ll take care of the rest, including a well-earned and delicious sausage sizzle for our incredible volunteers.
“Protecting our green spaces is something we all have a role in, and National Tree Day is a fantastic opportunity to do that in a hands-on way. Whether you're planting one tree or ten, you're helping to strengthen local ecosystems and shape the future of our natural environment.”
“We’re committed to going green as we grow, and that means creating opportunities for the community to get involved in events and initiatives that protect and improve our City’s environment.
“We love seeing the community immersing themselves in nature, whether it’s planting a tree on National Tree Day, visiting one of City of Moreton Bay’s environmental centres, or exploring our 294km of beautiful coastlines and estuaries,” Mayor Flannery concluded.
National Tree Day 2025 events will take place between 9am - 11am at:
- John H Walker Reserve, 3 Sally Court, Warner 4500
- Bubke Crescent, 41 Bubke Crescent, Caboolture 4510
