Council is seeking to work in cooperation with Lakeside Park operator John Tetley to review track infrastructure and assess how City of Moreton Bay can support this iconic motor sport venue.
Lakeside Park (formally Lakeside International Raceway) has served competitors and spectators for over a decade.
“It is 16 years since the track was resurfaced,” City of Moreton Bay CEO Scott Waters said.
”We look forward to the operator’s cooperation in reviewing this community facility to ensure it continues to be a safe place for all.”
“City of Moreton Bay understands how important the track is to the local community and motorsport enthusiasts. But the safety of track users, officials and spectators is paramount.”
"The operator has sought certainty from Council around his future plans for the track, identifying the need for future maintenance and resurfacing of the track. To provide this certainty, Council is planning a review of the track and surrounding infrastructure in the coming months to ensure it remains safe for all users."
Public safety is Council’s highest priority at all community facilities in the City of Moreton Bay.
