University student positions
A university student position is a paid part-time or full-time position that allows you to gain valuable experience working for Council while being flexible enough to allow you to continue with your university studies.
Individuals who are focused on achieving their best and who are currently studying an accredited degree at an Australian university are encouraged to apply.
As a university student working with Council, you will be given the opportunity to put theory into practice by working on challenging and exciting projects that other casual or part-time jobs may not offer.

Traineeships
A traineeship involves a combination of paid work and training that will work towards a nationally recognised qualification. A typical traineeship takes between 1 to 3 years to complete.
Most traineeships require you to have completed Year 10. Some work experience in your chosen vocational field would be an advantage. You also need to have a strong commitment to your traineeship, as you will be required to complete formal training e.g. workbooks and assessments, to gain your qualification.
Apprenticeships
An apprenticeship involves a combination of paid work and training that will work towards a nationally recognised trade qualification.
Apprenticeships are competency based and will take between 3 to 4 years to complete, although in certain circumstances, provided you have achieved all the required competencies, you may complete earlier.
Generally, you need to be a minimum of 15 years of age and have completed Year 10. Some work experience in your chosen vocational field would be an advantage.
