Recycle your waste - register your business to ASPIRE.

All businesses with less than 100 staff can register for free and turn waste into revenue.

What is ASPIRE?

ASPIRE (Advisory System for Processing, Innovation and Resource Exchange) is an online marketplace which allows businesses to search alternative solutions for waste going to landfill. It works by intelligently matching businesses with potential remanufacturers, purchasers or recyclers of their waste resources.

The ASPIRE platform was originally developed by CSIRO and Data 61 as a pilot, in response to manufacturing companies talking to their local councils about waste disposal costs - particularly those associated with increasing landfill levies.

The circular economy is a body of knowledge that supports the closing of material and energy loops within the economy. The goal is to retain material and energy flows at their highest possible value and utility for as long as possible, while providing for a safe and regenerative end of life disposal.

Why will your business benefit?

Keep using things, rather than using them up. Keep materials in use, keep products in use.

Council has partnered with ASPIRE to help businesses:

  • Reduce costs associated with waste disposal
  • Earn revenue by turning resources into revenue streams
  • Divert waste from landfill
  • Save on CO2 emissions
  • Develop new B2B relationships with like-minded businesses
  • Get reports on your business’s waste streams and impacts
  • Set up best practices for waste management
  • Reduce waste collection costs
  • Improve recycling
  • Reduce waste generation

What resources can you trade?

You can trade and dispose of the following waste streams and products on the ASPIRE platform:

  • Automotive parts
  • Cardboard
  • Chemicals
  • Construction waste
  • Demolition waste
  • Electronic waste
  • Furniture
  • Glass
  • Liquids
  • Metals
  • Organic waste
  • Paper
  • Plastics
  • Textiles
  • Wood and timber

Plus an “Other category” for anything else.

Moving our economy from linear to circular shifts the focus from increased consumption and high waste to simply doing more with less.
