Council's Moreton Bay Art Prize is back, celebrating its 32nd year of supporting City of Moreton Bay’s diverse and talented artists.
The free annual exhibition, held at Pine Rivers Art Gallery, showcases 36 artists whose work has been shortlisted to go into the running for the 2026 prize pool.
Entries have been shortlisted by a professional panel based on concept, workmanship and originality.
The Moreton Bay Art prize exhibition kicks off with the Outdoor Art Prize, where the work of six artists will be displayed on banners across the City in high-traffic locations from now to 15 June.
Mayor Peter Flannery said the annual art prize is part of Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting, uplifting and inspiring the City through art and culture.
“Council is committed to supporting and fostering a strong cultural presence throughout City of Moreton Bay.
“The Moreton Bay Art Prize, along with the outdoor display, provides equal opportunity for both upcoming and established artists to enter their works for public exhibition.
"Council is extremely proud to provide opportunities like this for talented local artists, right here in City of Moreton Bay,” he said.
The Moreton Bay Art Prize will be on display at Pine Rivers Art Gallery from May 30 to 18 July 2026.
Winners will share a prize pool totalling $10,000 with a non-acquisitive prize of $5,000 for first place; $3,000 for second place; $1,500 for third place and $500 for a People’s Choice Award.
“We’ve invested $26 million into our libraries, galleries and museums this financial year and are committed to our Creative Communities Action Plan, ensuring that City of Moreton Bay continues to support local arts into the future,” Mayor Flannery said.
The awards night will be held on Saturday 11 July, where the winners will be announced. This year, the winners will be chosen by guest judge, Dr Simon Degroot, Program Director of Visual Arts at Queensland College of Art and Design at Griffith University.
Members of the public are encouraged to cast their vote for ‘People’s Choice’, with voting open until the last day of the exhibition, Saturday 18 July.
Entry to the exhibition is free and suitable for all ages.
