Platypus walk and talk - Exploring eDNA

Next date: Thursday, 06 August 2026 | 07:00 AM to 09:00 AM

Join us for an early morning walk and talk to learn about City of Moreton Bay’s eDNA research.

We’ll meet at Sargent Reserve, Eatons Hill, and walk to Kumbartcho Sanctuary. Along the way, we'll enjoy the riverside surroundings and may spot a glimpse of a platypus. Sightings may not be guaranteed but that's part of the adventure.

If you're quiet and patient, you might catch a glimpse of one gliding by as we take you along the South Pine River where they are known to swim.

When we reach Kumbartcho, you'll enjoy a short presentation on eDNA research before we make our way back to the reserve.

This event is a great opportunity to learn more about these amazing creatures. You'll discover why they are so important for our waterways and how council is helping protect the species.

While this outing is open to all, it is most suited to those aged 16 years and up with a moderate level of fitness.

Whether you're a nature lover or love animals, this morning of guided exploration is a great way to start your day.
