Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)

This policy outlines the City of Moreton Bay’s (Council) approach to using and managing Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems and supporting analytical software installed or used by Council. It provides the framework for ensuring that CCTV and surveillance footage and images are managed and accessed equitably and in accordance with all relevant legislation.

This policy does not apply to:

  • Remotely piloted aircraft operated by Council in the excluded category (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles).
  • Sporting groups, clubs, commercial businesses, or private residential tenants (lessees and licensees) of Council’s land.
  • CCTV cameras on private land, where the data captured is not accessed or controlled by Council.
  • Other residential or commercial CCTV systems or developers use CCTV systems.
  • Body-worn cameras used by Council-authorised Local Law Officers.
  • Other surveillance devices used by Council, including traffic and invasive animal cameras.
