Work or construction zone parking permit

If your business is carrying out lawful building or construction work and requires short-term parking near the site, you may be eligible for a Work or construction zone parking permit.

This permit allows temporary parking on a section of road adjacent to the construction site when it’s not reasonably practical to keep all vehicle-related activities within the site.

This permit does not apply to developments approved under a Development Approval (DA). Parking and vehicle access for DA-related works should be addressed within the DA documentation.

Who can apply?

Permits may be issued to employees or representatives of a business undertaking lawful building or construction activities.

Eligibility criteria

A permit may be issued if:

  • the nominated section of road is adjacent to the building or construction site
  • the building or construction work is lawful and approved
  • it is not reasonably practical to confine all vehicle related activities within the site
  • the activity occurs on a road where:
    • parking is regulated by a time limit of one hour or more
    • the parked vehicle will not impact the flow of traffic on the road or in the area.

Permits will not be issued for:

  • trailers, boats, caravans, and buses
  • heavy and long vehicles
  • unregistered vehicles.

Permit conditions and restrictions

  • Permits are valid for a maximum of 14 days.
  • Permits are not transferable to another vehicle or another person.
  • One registered vehicle can be nominated for a permit.
  • Permits do not guarantee a parking space and are only valid for the nominated address.
