Local law approvals

Commercial use of public land and roads

You need Council approval to use public land or roads for displaying or selling goods, providing services, outdoor dining, jetty mooring and more.

Signs (except election signs)

Signs are fundamental to informing the community of services and events in the local area. Signs can be either self-assessable or require approval.

Election signs

An election sign is a temporary sign or poster that aims to influence a person's vote. Council regulates their number, size, location, and period of display.

Temporary homes

If you wish to live short-term on your property in a tent, car, shed, tiny home, motorhome or caravan, or allow someone else to, you may need Council approval.

Alteration of public land

You will need approval to alter the land if you wish to carry out work, store goods or materials, or install a permanent sign on public land.

Parking permits

A parking permit allows a vehicle to park longer than permitted in parking areas signed 1P or greater. Apply for, cancel or replace a parking permit.
