Temporary or special event parking permit

If you’re planning an event or conducting an activity and you need to park beyond the signed time limits of a time-restricted parking area, you may be eligible for a Temporary or special event parking permit. These permits allow short-term parking in time-restricted areas when it's not practical to carry out the activity without a dedicated parking space.

Permits are not issued for general staff parking, or for long-term parking at, or close to, the premises of your business or organisation.

Who can apply?

Permits may be issued to:

  • individuals
  • employees or representatives of a business
  • charities or organisations undertaking an event.

Eligibility criteria

A permit may be issued if:

  • you need parking for a temporary activity or special event
  • the activity occurs on a road where:
    • the location of the activity is on a section of road where parking is regulated by a time limit of one hour or more
    • the parked vehicle will not unduly impact traffic flow on the road or the surrounding area
  • it is not reasonably practical to carry out the activity unless the parking space is allocated for your exclusive use for the duration of the works or event.

Permits will not be issued for:

  • boats, caravans, or buses
  • heavy and long vehicles
  • unregistered vehicles
  • contractors who do not live at the address.

Permit conditions and restrictions

  • Permits are valid for the term of the approval.
  • Permits are not renewable
  • Permits are not transferable to another vehicle or person.
  • One registered vehicle can be nominated for a permit.
  • A permit does not guarantee a parking space and is only valid for the nominated address.
  • Council reserves the right to limit the number of permits issued.
