Community service organisation parking permit

Community service organisations may be eligible for a parking permit for a vehicle registered in the organisation's name. These permits support service-related activities and are not issued for general staff parking, or for long-term parking at, or near, the organisation's premises. 

Eligibility criteria

A permit may be issued if:

  • the permit is required to carry out an activity that aligns with the objectives of the organisation
  • the vehicle is registered in the name of the community service organisation
  • the vehicle will be parked in an area with a time limit of one hour or more
  • the activity takes place on a section of road where:
    • parking is regulated by time
    • the parked vehicle will not impact the flow of traffic on the road or in the area.

Permit conditions and restrictions

  • Permits are valid for 12 months and you will need to reapply at the end of the permit expiry date.
  • Permits are not transferable to another vehicle or another person.
  • One registered car or motorbike can be nominated for a permit.
  • Permits do not guarantee a parking space and are only valid for the nominated address.
  • Council reserves the right to limit the number of permits issued.

Applying for a parking permit

When you’re applying for a new permit, follow the steps below.

To apply for a replacement, go directly to Step 4 for in the application process.

The replacement permit will have the same expiry date as the original permit.

How to apply

Step 1.Collect supporting documents

You may need to provide:

  • a letter from the organisation on an official letterhead, signed by a representative outlining how the parking supports organisation objectives. 
  • proof of current not-for-profit status (if applicable) to be considered for a fee exemption.
  • a copy of the current vehicle registration notice in the organisation's name.

Step 3.Review fee and charges

An application fee is payable at the time of submission, per Council's fees and charges.

The first column is the type of fee, the second column advises the fee amount, and the third column explains the fee's purpose.

 Fee Type Amount Details
 Application fee $54.00  One-time fee paid when submitting your application.
 Permit replacement fee $20.00 This fee covers the administration of replacing a lost or damaged parking permit.
The replacement permit will remain valid for the same duration as the originally issued permit.

No fee applies for registered non-profit organisations or charities, provided evidence of current not-for-profit status is supplied.

Step 4.Submit your application

  • Sign in to Moreton Bay Online Services. If you do not have an account, you will need to register.
  • Go to 'Enquiries'.
  • Search 'Permits and Licences - Local Laws and Public Spaces'
  • Click 'Start' to begin the process.
  • In the field 'I want to apply for’, select 'Community Service Organisation Parking Permit' from the list.
  • Select either:
    • New Permit – for first-time applications
    • Replacement Permit – if your permit has been lost or damage.
