Have you seen a koala on your morning walk or a platypus in the local creek? You can report a native animal sighting online.

Report a sighting

Your report will help us with:

  • management of local environments
  • conservation planning
  • species management across the city.

We have a special interest in certain species and actively participate in various conservation programs to protect them. They are:

  • Greater glider
  • Platypus
  • Powerful Owl
  • Koala
  • Glossy Black Cockatoo
  • Echidna
  • Richmond Birdwing Butterfly
  • Wallum froglet
  • New or historic flying fox camps (including on private property)
  • Marine turtles (nesting)
  • Eastern Curlew.

Report an injured animal

If you find an injured animal, report it to the relevant rescue group.

Conducting wildlife surveys 

Community groups and individuals who want to conduct scientific research or wildlife surveys on Council land should contact Council.
