Council invites artists to submit an expression of interest for an exciting public art opportunity.

We are commissioning 3 separate temporary outdoor artworks as part of the Art At Large program.

These artworks will transform footpaths around John Scott Park into vibrant, creative spaces. It will enhance the park's atmosphere and invite visitors to experience the space in new and engaging ways.

About the artwork opportunity

This opportunity is open to artists only. It involves creating a striking artwork for a single section of concrete footpath at John Scott Park in Samford Village.

Made of aluminium vinyl, the artwork will cover about 40% of the allocated section of the footpath. Each section is about 15 metres long and 2 metres wide.

What we’re looking for

Artists are to reflect on one or more of the following curatorial prompts:

  • Community gatherings.
  • The natural and built environment surrounding Samford Village.

Your artwork should thoughtfully respond to the prompts and the park. It should highlight its unique character and vibrant community life. Think about how your artwork might positively impact the way people experience this beloved public space.

We will assess the artist on:

  • the strength and merit of their artistic practice.
  • their relevance and connection to the curatorial prompts and sites.
  • their understanding of creating art for the public realm.

Artists must be available for all key dates.
