  • Bookings for fishing, hip hop dancing, stand-up paddle boarding and much more open on March 26
  • Youngsters are also being encouraged to explore the City’s outdoor trails over the break

Young adventurers in City of Moreton Bay are being urged to ditch the screen and check out the outdoor scene these school holidays.

Bookings for Easter break activities including fishing, camping skills, canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding open on 26 March.

Curious kids can even try their hand at target archery, interactive drumming, golfing and hip hop dancing.

Mayor Peter Flannery said City of Moreton Bay was just waiting to be explored.

“We are blessed to live in a City surrounded by natural beauty with so much to see and do outside,” he said.

“Council is proud to offer these activities, at little to no cost, that keep our young active and engaged with the community.”

Mayor Flannery said the City’s outdoor trails were another great option for young people.

“The trails provide an exciting way to stay active, connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors,” he said.

“Destinations like Kumbartcho recreation trails, John Oxley Reserve trails and the rail trails at Samford and Caboolture, as well as further afield at Brian Burke Reserve and Godwin Beach Reserve, each offer diverse treks through nature.

“And why not go for a ride at the new Lagoon Road Mountain Bike trails at Burpengary where you can try your luck on wooden berms, boardwalks rollers, dirt jumps and tabletops.

“Whether you’re on foot or using some pedal power, there’s plenty to try your hand at in Moreton Bay these holidays.”

Council will also be celebrating Queensland Youth Week during the school holidays with a host of unique activities set to get kids moving, including Youth Reformer Pilates, Youth Strength and Conditioning, HIIT for Youth, Zumba Dance Fitness and a Teen Girl Crew program at Deception Bay.

All Active Holidays activities offered by City of Moreton Bay are either free or just $5.

Visitors to the trails are encouraged to stay on marked paths, carry adequate water, and share the trails with other users to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
