Experience a lively pop-up music show at Burpengary Library.

Featuring global sounds, professional musicians and a hands-on kazoo workshop, there is something for everyone.

These pop-ups are a fun and creative way to explore music and connect with your community.

The event features 3 performers.

Listen to the melodic sounds of the ukulele and guitar as Pasifika Families play upbeat Polynesian sounds.

Kellee Green, an award-winning performer, educator, jazz-pianist and composer, will play the People’s Keyboard, treating listeners to a solo performance at which you can request your favourite songs via a QR code.

The pop-up also includes a kazoo workshop with Danslands. He will teach you a simple medley of Bee Gees songs. Workshop participants are encouraged to bring their own kazoo. There will be several free kazoos available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Put your new skills into practise and join us on 21 June for a public flash mob. Performing with your kazoo at Bee Gees way, this high‑energy event will turn the laneway into a vibrant pop‑up stage.

About the performers

Pasifika Families

The Pasifika Families Music Duo creates inclusive, uplifting music workshops that support mental wellbeing through connection, creativity and culture. Using the ukulele as a gentle and accessible instrument, the duo fosters safe, welcoming spaces where participants can slow down, express themselves and feel a sense of belonging.

Grounded in Pacific Island values of family, community and collective care, each workshop is designed to strengthen emotional wellbeing by reducing isolation, building confidence and encouraging positive social interaction. Music is used as a wellbeing tool—supporting emotional regulation, mindfulness and joy—rather than performance or perfection. Participants are invited to engage at their own pace, making the experience accessible for all ages and abilities.

The duo has extensive experience working with Pasifika Families and multicultural communities, delivering trauma-informed, strengths-based programs that honour lived experience and cultural identity. Sessions often bring together children, parents and elders, supporting intergenerational connection and shared moments of calm and play.

Through simple songs, rhythm and storytelling, the Pasifika Families Music Duo nurtures resilience, cultural pride and mental wellbeing—creating spaces where community can breathe, connect and heal together through music.

He believes that movement, rhythm, and patterns are fundamental in the early years. And that music provides a great vehicle to teach these core skills in a fun and engaging way.

Kellee Green

Kellee Green is a jazz pianist and composer from Meanjin (Brisbane) and has been performing regularly since the age of 14. She became interested in jazz in her early teens and was fortunate enough to study jazz piano at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University under the tutelage of Dr Louise Denson. Kellee has been performing regularly in Brisbane and interstate for the last thirty years at venues such as the Brisbane Jazz Club, JMI Live and The Paris Cat.

Her debut album, Home, with Samuel Vincent (bass), John Parker (drums), Andrew Butt (saxophones) and Kristin Berardi (vocals) was released in early 2025. The title track of this album received Highly Commended at the 2022 Queensland Music Awards in the Jazz category. Another track, River to Sea, won the Jazz QMA in 2025.

In 2022 she recorded Mothers’ Suite, Sweet Mothers, a five-movement work for piano and violin that was commissioned for ABC Classic’s Fresh Start series and recorded by the label. This piece was highly reviewed and is on regular rotation on ABC Classic.

In recent years she has performed at the multiple Brisbane International Jazz Festivals and is the regular pianist for the Andrew Butt Trio+. This group launched their third album, Peregian, as part of the BIJF in October in 2024.

Having worked as a music teacher and Head of Music in Brisbane high schools, Kellee has a particular interest in working with young jazz musicians, helping them to gain confidence and explore improvisation in supportive and encouraging environments. She is passionate about providing opportunities for young women and non-binary students in jazz and helping to work towards gender parity in the Australian jazz community.
