Microbat walk and talk with Doctor Robin Rowland

Next date: Saturday, 28 March 2026 | 05:30 PM to 07:30 PM

A Horseshoe Microbat

Step into the hidden world of Australian bats and discover the extraordinary nocturnal animals that call Kumbartcho Sanctuary home.

Join us for a free animal talk and guided walk with PHD candidate Robin Rowland.

Dive into the secret lives of these remarkable creatures. Be inspired by Robin's contagious passion for animals and wildlife conservation.

Robin will reveal how these tiny insectivorous creatures hunt, communicate and navigate the night. Discover how living alongside humans is impacting their populations and changing their behaviour in surprising ways.

Explore fascinating facts, their crucial role in our ecosystems, and the clever ways they’ve adapted to urban environments.

As the sun sets, the adventure begins. With a handheld echo-meter detector in hand, you’ll head out for a guided walk around the grounds. These clever devices help us listen in and even locate microbats as they dart through the night sky.

This night experience will give you a unique glimpse into the habits of these incredible yet threatened species.

If you love outdoor activity, nature, and real‑world learning, this is your chance to connect with wildlife in a whole new way.

Arrive at the sanctuary in Eatons Hill at 5:15 PM for a 5.30 PM start.

Note: The talk will go ahead regardless of the weather.
