Living in Moreton Bay, with nature around every corner, you are bound to have a beautiful, hilarious, or downright frightening experience with some of the creatures that share our homes.

Multidisciplinary artist Kylie Harries had a chance encounter with a carpet snake while hanging out the washing one day. She wonders how many people have stories to share about the beautiful creatures that live with us.

Inspired by her encounter, Kylie invites you to add your funny, scary or inspiring stories to her Storyline. It's popping up with The Wonder Wagon at Music in the Park in Dayboro, Eco Fest in Petrie and Sips and Sounds in Warner.

Everyone is welcome to join in on this free creative workshop, Creaturely Encounters. You can:

  • write or draw a story about an interaction or meeting you had with a creature
  • peg up your story on the Storyline
  • read other people’s stories.

You can also share your story with Kylie, and she will illustrate it for you.

About the artist

Kylie Harries actively invites nature into her life by rewilding her garden and creating habitats on degraded land. She uses regenerative agricultural principles on her family farm in Moreton Bay. Kylie comes from a long line of storytellers, and uses stories to create connections, embed memories and celebrate joy and humour in everyday interactions.
