Creative workshop with artist Manuel Moreno Guirao
Next date: Saturday, 17 January 2026 | 10:00 AM
to 11:30 AM
Manuel is being commissioned to create a new artwork for the City of Moreton Bay’s Outdoor Gallery at Morayfield Sport and Events Centre.
Manuel will facilitate a workshop that invites participants to connect with the city’s visual and cultural history.
His art explores collective memory and possible futures by reinterpreting historical photos. In this workshop, participants will create a collage that represents the values of sport:
- belonging
- effort
- fair play
- inclusion.
They’ll bring these values to life using a mix of images, pencils, pastels, and charcoal.
About the facilitator
Manuel Moreno Guirao is a Spanish-born mural artist and painter who lives in Melbourne. His work looks at shared memories by reimagining old photographs using colour, light, and composition. For more than ten years, he has created large public artworks in Spain and Australia.
He often works with libraries, archives, and local councils. These partnerships help him use historical images responsibly and turn them into new stories for the community.
Accessibility
This venue has wheelchair access. Other participants will be present at the workshop and may be talking to each other. The venue has quieter areas for sensory breaks if required. For more information, email Cultural.Activation@moretonbay.qld.gov.au.
