Printmaking workshop with Ale

Next date: Saturday, 21 February 2026 | 09:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Laying flat are a stack of different prints on paper in black and white of animals.

From blank paper to bold impressions, discover the art of printmaking at this free, beginner-friendly workshop.

Join multidisciplinary artist Ale, and get hands-on as she introduces you to the basic concepts of this expressive art form.

You’ll be guided step-by-step through the full process of creating prints. Starting with developing your ideas, you’ll design your image, carve a foam plate and print your artwork. Take home your finished print to keep or share.

You’ll learn key printmaking techniques in a simple and approachable way using foam as a material. Foam is an ideal entry point for beginners. It allows you to experience the core principles of lino printing without specialised tools.

At the workshop, you’ll:

  • explore the foundations of printmaking in an accessible, safe format
  • develop ideas inspired by your own surroundings and imagination
  • learn how to design and carve a foam plate
  • experience the core principles of lino printing without specialised tools.

Through visual examples, gentle prompts and one-on-one support, you explore your own inspiration and creative process.

The workshop encourages creativity, experimentation and reflection. It is closely connected to Ale’s artistic practice, which focuses on lino printing and print-based works. Ale takes inspiration from the environment and the animals around her.

With all materials provided, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to unleash your inner creativity. Book now!

About the facilitator

Through Ale’s artistic journey, she has explored different techniques including painting, charcoal drawing, sculpture and jewellery making, but the one that stayed with her is lino printing.

Ale draws a lot of inspiration from the environment she lives in and the animals around her, and enjoys transforming them into prints on both paper and fabric.

Lino printing connects Ale deeply with the present moment. It is a process that requires patience, time and acceptance.

Ale has learnt to welcome the final result exactly as it is, including any imperfections. For Ale, it feels like a mindfulness practise within her artistic work.
