Clean-up works following the recent severe storms are still underway. Due to the extent of the damage, recovery will take several months. Please exercise caution when visiting impacted areas. Thank you for your patience as crews work hard to restore these areas.
Council's customer service centres will be closed from 12:00 PM on Wednesday, 24 December, reopening on Monday, 5 January 2026 at 8:30 AM.
Containers for Change is a Queensland Government scheme in partnership with the beverage industry that places a 10 cent deposit on select drink containers (150 ml to 3 litres). That deposit is then redeemable at a container refund point.
Council does not provide container refund points or processing services on behalf of the scheme at any of council's waste facilities.
Residents seeking information on the scheme, including refund collection point locations, should direct enquiries to Containers for Change, the contracted manager of this program on behalf of the Queensland Government. See the Containers for Change website or phone 13 42 42.
Residents can continue to place their drink containers, plus many other household containers that are not included in the Containers for Change refund program, into their recycling bin.
