Bongaree Meeting Place, the former Bribie Island Masonic Lodge, is set in a quiet, welcoming neighbourhood for your next event. Constructed in the 1880s, this building was a school, a Methodist church and more recently a Masonic Lodge.

This venue is fit for meetings, small group classes, training and support programs.

The venue is a self-service model. All hirers are responsible for set-up, pack-down and cleaning of the venue before the conclusion of hire.

The venue has a capacity of 25 people.

Accessibility

The building is currently not accessible to people in wheelchairs.

Entry to Bongaree Meeting Place is via a door at the back (not the front porch door). There are a couple of steps to enter the building at the back entry, and the toilet is at the back of the block.

Before booking, inspect the venue to ensure the facility meets your accessibility requirements.

Bookings

The meeting room is available to hire between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM. 

Regular hire is available at this facility. A regular hirer is an individual or organisation that books on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.  

  • Booking requests must be at least five business days before the requested hire date. 
  • A minimum of 1 hour hire applies to all bookings.
  • Council may charge a refundable security bond to cover potential damage to the facility during hire. 
  • Bookings restricted to a maximum of 4 hours per booking and 2 bookings per week for any hirer.

  2. Review site induction program and complete registration. Note the reference number provided. You will need this number to complete your application.

Venue inclusions:

  • 4 flip rectangular tables on wheels (1800 millimetres by 800 millimetres)
  • 30 stacking chairs
  • Air conditioning

Kitchenette inclusions:

  • Instant boiling water tap
  • Sink
  • Fridge
  • Crockery and cutlery

There are no cooking utensils, pots, pans, serving equipment, dishwashing liquid, washcloths or tea towels provided.

  • 50% discount for non-profit/incorporated associations.
  • Council may charge a refundable security bond.

Restrictions

  • This is a heritage building, and much of it is original material and precious. Restrictions don't apply to activities that do not pose a risk of damage to any part of the building, and don't need heavy equipment fixed to any part of the building.
  • All music and noise must cease at 8:30 PM.                                       
  • All persons must vacate the venue by 9:00 PM.
  • Hirers are not permitted to sleep in the venue overnight.
  • Equipment may only be left on site with prior arrangement from the venue manager.
  • Smoking is prohibited in and within 5 meters of Council venues, except in designated smoking areas.
  • The use of open flames, including but not limited to candles, lanterns or smoke machines, is prohibited.
  • Decorative items such as glitter, rice, sand or confetti are not permitted.
  • Do not attach decorations or any other items to the walls or floors in any way that may cause damage. This includes, and is not limited to, any temporary fixings using sticky tape, pins or tacks.
  • Animals, except registered assistance and service animals, are not permitted in Council venues without prior approval.

Venue inspections

The venue manager may provide prospective hirers with the opportunity to view the venue before booking. Inspections are by appointment only and depend upon the venue manager and venue availability.
