Nominations are now open for Moreton Bay Regional Council’s 2015 Australia Day Awards.

Mayor Allan Sutherland invited residents to nominate a quiet achiever who had worked tirelessly for the benefit of the community.

“Council’s Australia Day Awards are a celebration of the unsung heroes in our community who have excelled and made a positive contribution over the past year,” Mayor Sutherland said.

“Past recipients have included volunteers, athletes, business owners and community leaders.

“They’re the backbone of our community and they should be recognised for their hard work and tireless contributions.”

  • Young sportsperson of the year;
