Burns on Bribie today

Two bushfire hazard reduction burns will be carried out on Bribie Island from 9am today.

The burns will be conducted at:

• First Avenue, Woorim. Block of land North West of the Sewage Treatment Plant. Interagency burn with SEQ Water (UBD 53 M20)Verdoni Street Park between Verdoni St and Sunderland Drive, Bellara, 1.2 hectares (UBD 53 A10).

Moreton Bay Regional Council is conducting the burns in conjunction with the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, Department of Environment and Resource Management and SEQ Water.

Asthmatics and residents susceptible to respiratory illness are advised to stay indoors, keep the windows and doors closed and block air vents. Use a filtered air conditioner to circulate air and keep medications nearby.    

Residents experiencing breathing difficulties during the burns should call the Queensland Ambulance Service on triple zero (000).
